Rose gold or yellow gold is the most common question in our DMs. The answer depends on your undertone, not your skin colour, and you can find it in thirty seconds.
The wrist test
Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist in daylight. Greenish veins mean a warm undertone. Blue or purple veins mean cool. If you cannot tell, you are neutral.
Warm undertones
Yellow gold is the classic match and glows against warm skin. Most Indian skin tones are warm or neutral-warm, which is why gold has always dominated here. Start with a gold-tone bangle.
Cool undertones
Rose gold and silver tones sit more naturally. Rose gold in particular brings a flush to cool skin. See our rose-gold chain pendants.
Neutral
Both work. This is where mixed-metal stacking shines, so wear one of each.
What about the outfit?
Earthy and warm colours lean gold. Pastels, greys and blues lean rose gold. Black and white take either.
A practical note
Because our anti-tarnish pieces come in both finishes at the same price, you can buy one of each and test in real life. Return the one you wear less within the return window.
Quick answers
What about silver tones?
Silver and white metals suit cool undertones best and look sharp with black and blue outfits.
Can I mix rose gold and yellow gold?
Yes. Keep the scale similar and let one metal dominate for a deliberate look.
Does rose gold look pink in photos?
Slightly, which is why it photographs so well. In person it reads warm and soft.
Which sells more at Soul?
Rose gold narrowly, driven by bangles. Yellow gold leads in earrings and temple pieces.
