The question we get asked most on Instagram is some version of "can I keep it on in the shower?" For our stainless-steel anti-tarnish range the answer is yes. Here is the full picture so you know exactly where the limits are.
What is safe
- Showers and hand washing. Plain water and mild soap do nothing to 316L steel or its plating.
- Sweat and gym sessions. Salt in sweat is what kills brass jewellery. Steel does not care.
- Rain and humidity. Monsoon-proof. Kolkata summers tested.
- Hand sanitizer. Alcohol will not strip the plating. Let it dry before rubbing the piece against fabric.
What to avoid
- Chlorine for hours. A dip in the pool is fine. Swimming laps daily in a heavily chlorinated pool will eventually dull any plating. Rinse with fresh water afterwards.
- Perfume sprayed directly on the metal. Spray first, wear jewellery after.
- Bleach and strong cleaners. Take rings off before scrubbing the kitchen.
The one rule
Pat it dry. Water left sitting in the hinge of an openable bangle or the back of a stud is the only way to invite spots. Ten seconds with a towel and your piece will last years.
Important: this is for the demi-fine range only
Our temple jewellery and German silver replica pieces are brass-based and hand-finished. They are beautiful but not water-safe. Keep those for occasions and store them dry.

Quick answers
Can I sleep in it?
Yes. Studs, thin chains and bangles are comfortable overnight. Take off large hoops so they do not bend.
What about sea water?
A beach day is fine. Rinse in fresh water afterwards and pat dry, the same as you would for sunglasses.
Will the crystals fall out in water?
Our crystals are prong or bezel set, not glued, so water does not loosen them.
Does this apply to the ₹109 store pieces?
Check the product page. Anything listed as stainless steel or anti-tarnish follows these rules; brass pieces should stay dry.
