"18K gold plated" tells you the colour of the plating. It tells you nothing about how long it will last. Two pieces with the same label can behave completely differently.
The three things that decide lifespan
- Base metal. Plating over brass fails faster because brass oxidises underneath and pushes through. Plating over stainless steel has a stable foundation.
- Plating thickness. Flash plating is under 0.5 micron and wears in weeks. Heavy plating or PVD coating is several times thicker. Our anti-tarnish pieces are built for 8× the shine life of standard plated jewellery.
- Where it rubs. Rings and bracelets see constant friction. Earrings and pendants barely touch anything, so they last longest.
Realistic expectations
- Flash-plated brass: 3 to 8 weeks of daily wear.
- Heavy-plated brass: 4 to 8 months.
- Heavy-plated or PVD stainless steel: 2 years and beyond with basic care.
How to get the longest life
Put jewellery on last, after perfume and lotion. Take rings off before heavy chores. Pat dry after water. Store pieces separately so they do not scratch each other. That is it.

Quick answers
What does 18K actually mean on plating?
The plating layer is 18-karat gold, which is 75 percent pure. It is the colour of fine jewellery without the solid-gold price.
Does rose gold plating last as long as yellow?
Yes. Both are the same thickness. Rose gold is 18K gold alloyed with a little copper for the pink tone.
Can plating be redone?
For brass pieces, some local jewellers offer re-plating. For our steel pieces it is rarely needed within the first couple of years.
Do you offer a warranty?
Every piece is quality-checked before dispatch and covered by our returns policy if it arrives with a defect.
